Overview

Delivery Point Validation (DPV®) is a USPS® system that verifies whether an address truly exists and is deliverable.
While CASS™ confirms that an address is properly formatted, DPV® takes it a step further — confirming that mail can actually be delivered to that specific address point (house, apartment, or business).

EZ24x7 integrates USPS DPV® logic directly into its address verification process, allowing you to validate millions of records instantly and identify vacant, inactive, or non-existent addresses before mailing.

How DPV® Works

The DPV® system validates delivery points using the USPS Delivery Point Database, a master file containing every addressable location in the U.S.
Here’s what happens during the EZ24x7 process:

1. CASS™ Pre-Validation
   Each address is first standardized through CASS™ processing, ensuring it’s in a recognized USPS format before DPV® verification.

2. Address-to-Delivery-Point Match
   EZ24x7 compares every CASS-certified record to the USPS DPV® data to confirm whether it is a valid, mailable delivery point.

3. Delivery Status Codes
   The system returns standardized DPV® codes identifying the status of each record —

   • Y = Valid, deliverable address

   • N = Not deliverable

   • S = Valid address but secondary number missing (e.g., apartment or suite)

   • D = Primary address valid, secondary invalid

4. Vacant and Non-Deliverable Detection
   DPV® identifies seasonal, vacant, or inactive addresses, helping you avoid wasted postage on mail that will never reach its destination.

5. Integration with Other Modules
