NCOALink® Overview

EZ24x7 ensures full USPS® Move Update compliance through its certified NCOALink® address correction services. Every address list processed includes a detailed Processing Summary Report (PSR) that documents compliance, performance statistics, and match results from the NCOALink process. The NCOALink database contains change-of-address records filed with the USPS for up to 18 months, allowing businesses to keep their customer data accurate and up to date.

What the NCOALink® Process Delivers

Each list processed through EZ24x7’s NCOALink® service includes standardized and enhanced postal data to ensure complete deliverability:

  1. Original Input Record – The unaltered address as originally submitted.

  2. Standardized Address – Updated with correct ZIP+4®, Delivery Point Code (DPC), and other postal data through CASS™ processing.

  3. New Forwarding Address – For matched records, a standardized new address with Intelligent Mail® barcode and USPS return codes.

  4. Move Details – Includes the move effective date, matched name and address, and move type (Individual, Family, or Business).

  5. Unmatched Addresses – Retained with all standard CASS™ enhancements and return codes.

  6. Additional Data – Includes Urbanization name (when applicable) and Carrier Route information for all updated records.

Processing Summary Report (PSR)

Every NCOALink® job returns a Processing Summary Report that includes:

  • The specific list name or identifier.

  • Match statistics and counts by return code.

  • USPS compliance verification for Move Update requirements.
This PSR acts as your substantiation of NCOALink® compliance — essential for USPS audit readiness.

NCOALink® Return Codes

Each address record is assigned standardized Return Codes that indicate the match result. These codes appear in three distinct fields within your output file:

Return Code Meaning
A COA (Change of Address) Match
91 COA Match: Secondary number dropped from COA
92 COA Match: Secondary number dropped from input

02 Moved Left No Address (MLNA)
03 Box Closed No Order (BCNO)

19 New Address Not ZIP+4® Coded
00 No Match
04–20 Various name or address conflicts and delivery exceptions

Move Type Codes

These indicate the type of move identified in the USPS NCOALink database:

Code Type Description
I Individual Move Match based on full name
F Family Move Match based on surname
B Business Move Match based on entire business name

Effective Date (EFF_DATE)

Each record matched in NCOALink® includes the date the move became effective.
This ensures your mailing reflects the most accurate, current address at the time of delivery.
